What could be happening...supply going down

  1. I am pumping 3x a day at work for my one son and was easily able to get about 16oz each day until last week. Now I seem to struggle to even get 12oz. He is 5 1/2 mo but we haven't started solids yet so he is still nursing or I am pumping 7 - 8 times a day. I was sick with a bad virus last week but kept up with nursing/pumping but that's when I noticed the dip in my supply. I am completely better now and my supply is still lacking. He takes 12 - 16 oz a day at daycare and at this rate I am not going to be able to keep up. What could be causing this sudden decline? Do you think temporarily taking fenugreek to help boost it back up would help? Any advice is appreciated.

  2. that happens to me when af arrives. any chance of that being the problem?

  3. I don't think it's AF but I guess anything is possible. I still haven't had it since I gave birth and I am not cramping which is always a first sign for me since I have terrible endo. Hmm, now I am wondering if maybe I will get it before I stop bf. I was hoping to be one of the lucky ones that doesn't get it until they wean.

  4. Try taking the fenugreek capsules. They can't hurt and might help. You'll know you're taking the right amount when you sort of get a maple syrup smell.

What probably happened is when you were sick you may have been a little dehydrated and that can affect your supply. Try drinking more fluids and some say eating oatmeal can help, too.

  5. I took fenugreek 3 tablets 3 times a day. I also tried to eat oatmeal (I ate cookies mostly because I don't love oatmeal ). Did you take a decongestant? That can sometimes hurt supply temporarily.

  6. Thanks all or responding. I am starting the fenugreek this morning to see if that can help my supply. I didn't take a decongestant but I wonder if the Robitussin I've been taking has something in it that is hurting my supply.
