  1. Irrorio..Congrats on passing 3 hour glucose. Excellent weights on the babies.

  2. Hi everyone- On thurs i was admitted to the hospital after one of the babies membranes ruptured. Within 24 hours I was about 5 cm dilated and they could see the cord, so we couldnt wait any longer and had to do a c section ASAP. I was terrified and in great shock. The babies were born and both cried when they cam out. baby A, Gabriella, was born weighing 2.13 pounds she is doing really, really well. She is breathing completely on her own and is now taking in small amounts of food through a tube. Jonah, weighed 3.6 pounds. He took in some amniotic fluid when he wa born so he needed to be hooked up to a ventilator, but is doing most of the breathing on his own and pray he will come off soon. He is taking it a little slower which is expected since he is a boy, they develop slower, and he was not ready to be taken although his sister was. The babies typically stay in the nicu until thier due date so they will be here till Feb. It is very difficult emotionally, especially after the extreme c section pain, but I am trying to stay positive. All prayers are greatly appreciated. The next 2 weeks are going to be the hardest. Thank you!

  3. Sara-Hang in there, honey. I'm sure you've read that my girls were born at 27weeks, 6 days. They are doing great. Lindsay is 2lbs, 6oz. and Sophie is 2lbs, 12oz. They have been on and off the breathing machines. It is a total roller coaster ride and let yourself feel whatever you want to feel. If you want to e-mail me my address is Feel free to e-mail anytime. You and your family are in my prayers.

  4. Sara..I can totally relate to how you are feeling right now. Your babies are going to be alright and will grow big and strong. Being a NICU mom is a rollercoaster ride, but it has its rewards along the way. Congrats on your twins, hang in there. My twins are 31w1d today and they are doing great. I visit them everyday and get to hold them and change diapers and take temps etc. Hoping your C-Section pain goes away very soon, the first 2 days are the worst.

  5. Sara-Congratulations! Feel free to come him for support whenever you need it.

  6. This thread is too quiet. Is that a good thing or a bad thing???

  7. It has been very quiet.

I am hanging in here. This morning woke up with a lot of swelling in my feet/ankles and feeling real puffy. I checked my blood pressure and its a little higher than normal but not so high that I have to go to the hospital. My doctor told me if the higher number hits 140 I need to go to the hospital. I have a blood pressure monitor at home so its easy to check it every now and then.

Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas!

  8. Any updates? I'll be 34w on Thursday, at home now. Had a PTL scare last week but all is ok for now. Cervix is slightly open and funneled but holding steady.
    Anyone else still pregnant?

  9. hishamatar..How are your babies doing? Hope all is well. Please give us an update.

  10. Mich- I am still here and still pregnant. Currently 34w and as of last week cervix was still closed. I have another appt tomorrow w/ OB and a NST to see if anything has changed. I have started going for twice weekly NST and both babies have looked good BUT on Monday my blood pressure was a little high and I had trace amounts of protein in urine so they are going to keep an eye on it. I am have been getting pretty uncomfortable lately and with the weather being bad I haven't been getting out very much.

Is there anyone else out there still pregnant?

    B/G twins

  11. Still preggo here!!! I have spent a few night in the hospital for PTL. I am On bedrest and going stir crazy. The plan is to get me too 35 weeks and then whatever happens happpens. I am currently 34 weeks. I am on procardia every 6 hours to prevent contractions.

Hope everyone is doing well and staying healthy.

  12. How is the procardia treating you Terri?

Linda, What prompted the twice weekly NSTs? I'm still doing 1x per week. Should I be insisting 2?

  13. Nothing specific prompted the twice weekly NST, I guess its just my Dr's protocol w/ twins but all along my babies have measured big which could be part of the reason for twice weekly. As of 2 weeks ago their weights were estimated at 4lb 7oz & 4 lbs 12 oz, I go back for another U/S next week. I like going for the NST since I go to the Birthing Center of the hospital where I will deliver so I am getting to know all the nurses before I deliver. I already have a favorite, hopefully she will be working when I go in.

  14. Procardia kinda makes me dizzy all the time. It's supposed to relax smooth muscle, so I guess the dizziness is normal.

  15. Procardia is a heart medication that reduces blood pressure but just so happens to relax smooth muscle as well...hence the dizziness. When I was on it I would get these head rushes/flushing type sensations but after a while my body got used to it.

  16. Hi ladies,
Another false alarm this am. Ctx 5 mins apart, coming pretty strong for over 2 hours. I was in bed just resting and breathing. Then I got up and ate breakfast and they stopped. So, as of today, I'm 35w2d, still pg. Any updates from the rest of you ladies?

  17. Still here and still pregnant. When I went for my OB appt Wednesday my blood pressure was high. I was already scheduled for NST after appt so doctor ordered blood work & had them retake my blood pressure a few times. I then had to go back on Friday for another NST and blood work and blood pressure was better but my platlets were a little low. I go back Monday for another OB appt and NST so I will see if anything changes. I have been having contractions off and on but as of Wednesday no change in my cervix. Also on Wednesday had U/S and babies are measuring baby A 6 lbs 8 oz & baby B 5 lbs 12 oz. I have been getting extremely uncomfortable lately and not sleeping good.

  18. Wow Linda,
Those are great weights. On Monday, I was 34w4d and my boys weighed in at 5lbs, 14oz and 5lbs, 4oz. I'm hoping they keep on gaining and me staying pregnant is doing something good for them! Keep me posted as to your bp and the platelets. What are they most concerned about?

  19. They are monitoring my BP and blood counts for preeclampsia. I will update later this morning after my appt. I have been so uncomfortable lately and I haven't been sleeping very well.

  20. Linda,
    How did things go?

  21. I had my OB appt first and my blood pressure was 140/90 (since being pregnant its usually 120/70 & lower before getting pregnant). My cervix is FINALLY making some progress, I am 1 cm dialated and 60% effaced. I told the doctor how uncomfortable I have been and not sleeping so he gave me a prescription for Ambien. I have to run out to the drug store to fill it because I forgot to go earlier. So hopefully I will be able to get some sleep before these babies arrive.

Since my blood pressure was high again, when I went for my NST the doctor had them do blood work. When the nurse checked my blood pressure after laying down about 15 minutes or so it was a little lower 136/80 something. The lab took almost 2 hours to get the results back and I had to hang out in the birthing center until it came back but at least I am getting to know all the nurses there before I deliver. I guess whatever they look for in the blood work has been increasing, which isn't good (this is 3rd round of blood work) so I am now doing a 24 hour urine collection and have to bring it into the lab tomorrow afternoon.

The doctor mentioned that if my blood pressure is high while I am at the NST he will have me admitted. I go back for another NST and blood work on Wednesday so we will see what happens then. My next appt w/ OB is next Wednesday and he didn't seem to think I will make it that long.

  22. How many weeks are you now Linda? Next wednesday seems so soon!

  23. I am 36 weeks today but babies have measured at least a week ahead all along. I slept soooo much better last night after taking the Ambien. My doctor is concerned about my blood pressure and developing preeclampsia which could speed things up.

  24. Hello everyone! Long time, not post. Sorry! I was admitted to the hospital on December 12 after a growth ultrasound showed baby A was growth restricted and having placenta problems. I was almost delivered that day, but their heartrates stayed stable until the 48 hours of sterrhoids could be administered. Then, their heartrates were still strong, so I was kept in the hospital on bedrest for 3 weeks (through Christmas and New Year's) with constant monitoring of the babies heartrates. By week 35, baby A was still only measuring the first percentile, so it was decided to go ahead and deliver. But, to everyone's surprise, baby A's water broke on the evening of Jan. 2nd. Austin (baby A) and Megan (B) were delivered via emergency C Section at 1:45am on Jan. 3rd.

Austin was 3 lbs 2 oz and Megan 5 lbs 2 oz. They were both in the NICU until late last week. Austin because of his size and potential 'gut' problems. Megan because she needed breathing help and a feeding tube - as hishamatar said of hers...Megan was not ready to come out yet, so she did not fare as well...took in a lot of fluid upon delivery.

It was all quite a whirlwind...sorry I couldn't update along the way. The hospital did not have wifi - ugh! We are all home now and doing quite well. You can see pictures at this link, if you're interested:

I hope you are all doing well and send you baby joy from Phoenix!

  25. Amy- Congratulations on the birth of your twins and glad to hear they are both doing good and are at home with you.
