To all the Houston, TX area ladies

  1. Myself and another local IVFCer have been tossing around the idea of getting together IRL.

Haven't really decided on a time/place yet, but I'm going to try to get the ball rolling.

SO, I am posting a thread to see if anyone else might be interested.

(I know parenting by location is where this SHOULD be, but I haven't ever had much luck/response over there, so I'm coming here to my tried-and-true! )

If you're interested in joining us, PM me so we can exchange info!

Thanks & we look forward to meeting you IRL!

  2. Will you let Austin girls come out and play? If it's good timing, I could get away for a long day ...

  3. ABSOLUTELY! THE MORE THE MERRIER!

I would even be willing to meet halfway somewhere, depending on the day/circumstances. I have a van, so would be ready & willing to carpool/caravan to a mutual meeting place.

    PM me if you're interested.

    Take Care~

  4. I'd even be willing to drive west if it will help. Anywhere within 2 hours of Conroe I can go for sure. As long as we pick a day with no Dr's appointments or prior commitments. (I know I'm busy the first Sunday in May.) It sounds great.

Is this just ladies or DH's and kids? I'm open either way because if it's close I can come alone and if it's further Joe can take Daniel to play while we meet, but I rarely go anywhere without them.

  5. Would love to - sitter on call or with kids - whatever.

I'm open either way too but it's doubtful my DH would join us... he's pretty much a homebody.

I won't eat your cheese fries.......

Just an idea - I have a HUGE playroom and could hire a sitter, order in food, etc..

LOL... I don't really mind as long as you wash your hands first

Sounds good to me if everyone else is OK with that...

Tell me a time, place, etc. & I'm there, my schedule is pretty flexible.

  9. What are all of the DC's ages? Are they close enough to play easily, or would it be more trouble than it's worth?

    My DD is 3 1/2.

  10. I have a DS who is 8 and a DD who is (almost) 2. My DS plays very well with younger children, as I often watch my niece who is 5 and my nephew who is 3. But, If we get together anytime from 8-3 weekdays, my 8yo will of course be in school.

  11. Hey Demek, we are moving to Austin later this year. I'm from Texas originally and my husband and I both went to UT so we've lived there before...cannot WAIT to get back! We were just there last week beginning our house hunting and DD had an evaluation at a private special needs school. It was heavenly to be back in the land of Chuys...LOL.

MMMMM.... Chuys! We have 'em here in Houston too. So yummy!

  13. Daniel is 2.5 going on 13teen which is how old he told me he is when I asked him last night. LOL So far he plays pretty well with other kids but he has hit on one occasion. We are still working on "not everything is mine" but I think that's typical 2 yo only child. But I do think we are doing OK with that too. The lady who watched him a few weeks ago even invited him for a playdate so Joe and I could have a few hours alone, because she said he did so well with her DD. Her DD is the one he hit, but they were on a ride at the fair and I think she hit him first and it was more of an "I'm having so skining much fun I just have to slap someone" type thing. In other words they were both laughing when they did it.

    Anywhere sounds good to me.

  15. Don't know if anyone is interested but BF and I are taking the kids to the Spring crawfish festival this Sat (last weekend). Lots of kid rides, etc. and I can hire a sitter to go with us and help with the kids.

I've been every year I've lived here and had a blast plus it would be close to AS.

  16. Are we talking this Saturday the 24th?

What time/Where is the festival? (I LOVE my festivals and DH LOVES his crawfish!)

Our baseball game isn't until 7:15 that night so we could probably swing an early-in-the-day trip (of course, you mention food/festival and DH no longer becomes a homebody!)

Let me know & I'll mention is to DH~
    Brandi

  17. Yep, the 24th and we'll probably be there around 11:00 a.m. as I've heard it gets rough when the sun goes down.

I'll talk to DH and we'll probably try to make it. Spring is a bit of a hike for us so we'd have to leave for home pretty early (like around 5:30-ish) in order to make it back in time for our baseball game.

A, since you've been before, do you know will they have festival food other than crawfish? I cannot really eat/enjoy crawfish right now. (But DH sure can, and DS will LOVE riding rides!)

  19. Ugh - I dunno. You may look it up on-line but I remember my kids getting chicken since the mud bugs were spicy.

  20. Yikes~ DH informed me tonite that our Saturday game is at 5:15, so we have to leave the festival by 3:00 if we go.

DS is plugging for yes, I am plugging for yes, Grandma (who wants to join us too) is plugging for yes, DH is still up in the air on it. Says it is a pretty far drive for just a few hours.

    I'll keep working on him....

    ~Brandi

  21. We have about 3 things that are options for Sat and that was 1 of them. 2 of them include mudbugs. I asked DH and he said he'd think about it. He told me the last time he went the smell from the crawfish was so strong it made him ill. (neither of us eats them) It's a very big maybe.

  22. Bumping to see if we can get something organized

I'm pretty wide open (except for a few Dr.'s appts here & there)

    Let's get together!

    Take Care~

  23. I'd love to get together soon. I've been really down lately and could use some fun. Seems like it's always something. I feel like all I do is complain and I want more good things in my life. Today has been really hard. But that is another post.

Any one going to strawberry festival? I was thinking about that or Moody Gardens soon, but I am open to suggestions if they aren't too expensive.

  24. We are going to the Strawberry Festival Friday, May 14th.

In fact, I was going to suggest that, too.

We plan to arrive around 4pm and stay late.

I'd LOVE IT if someone would join us!

  25. I thought it was only this weekend. That sounds like a better time for us anyway. Let me ask Joe about any Dr's appointments he might have. But if we don't have anything on the calender and we don't figure out a way to go to N. Carolina for my uncles funeral count us in. Give me a call.
