  1. I am still very new to all this and looking for advice and someone to talk to about this who is going through what me and my dh are going through.I am 24 and my husband is 33. What lead us to IVF due to my DH's low sperm count. So this month starts with the normal testing prior to actually starting the bcp. So my DH also has to go through what is called a testicular sperm removal. And if all goes well then hopefully we will be starting everything in july. So anything anyone can tell me about what to expect or just anything would be appreciated.

  2. eropetri----

Although I have no words of wisdom, as I am just starting out on my first IVF adventure, I just wanted to let you know it looks like we will be cycling around the same time.

I am 28 DH is almost 40 with two SA's resulting in a zero count. So far as we know we are only dealing with the MF. I have my first consult app. on June 3rd----four years ago to the day that DH proposed (ironic!).

Thus far we have already been through much of the testing: SA, rectal ultrasound, flushed my tubes (clear), bloodwork, chromosonal testing....
I still have to do my FSH and estrodial test, but Dr. seems to think all will be normal----I hope! Our DX is pretty severe MF, so I understand how scary this whole IVF world is....

If you want, we can keep eachother posted about dr app's and whatnot so as not to feel so lonely

Good luck with the testing, and keep me posted as to your progress!

  3. Good Afternoon ladies, I am 29 yrs old with unexplained infertility issues. DH is also 29 and so far test says he's GREAT. I was suppose to start my stims on 5/20 however when my DR. did the u/s it showed that I had cyst. So he put me on bcp for the next mth (which I’m in my 2nd week and should be done by 6/15… I am praying that they are gone and I can finally start my stims that’s been sitting at the DR. office since 5/15. I was on the May buddies but with everything I was hoping that I can buddy up with some women that’s on MY NEW CYLCE.
I still want to keep in touch with my May group but it kind of depresses me when I have to hear how the very same people I started with me ARE PREGNANT!!!
I hope I don’t sound like a selfish person because I don’t mean to come off like that but trying to make things easier for myself.

Does anyone have any comments, questions or suggestions?

History with in the last 10 years
    2 M/C
    1 etopic
    and years of depression

    I have 1 blocked tube....unexplained after 2 surgeries

I\'m finally going for it through IVF and I don't want to SHUT DOWN AGAIN

Sounds like we may be in same boat. I just turned 28,,,had right side tubal adhesions/scar tisssue,no history of pelvic surgery or infections. right tubal issue remains unexplained after laparoscopy to remove scar tissue.no MF probs. Had our first IVF in 07,good embies, good response to meds..good sperm,,but was a BFN.and its just soooo frustrating not to be able to figure out what went wrong.we're hoping to start 2nd cycle next month.lots of luck to u and hope ur first one is BFP!

  5. Ipazia- Thank you for your b/g.... Maybe we can keep each others hopes up. I've been on the board since 5/15/09 and was suppose to start my stims on 5/18 but CYSTS arrivied and I had to start bcp. I take my last bcp on 6/09 and hopefully AF will come by 6/12....hoping and praying sooooo hard. Sorry to hear about your BFN, so did you have any left to freeze and why did it take so long for you to start IVF cycle #2? Also did the Dr. tell you what possibly could have happened that it didn't take?

eropetri- I'm 22 and my husband is 32. We're doing IVF due to DH having retrograde ejaculation....he's a parapalegic due to a military accident and I guess that is really common with his injury. Anyhow, we have to do TESA also, and it's a little scary to me that we are going through all this money and time and then we don't really know what his sperm is like until the day they do the testicular aspiration Our RE says that I'm super healty though and that is usually what matters. It's strange, I guess egg quality is much more important than sperm quality. Anyhow, DH and I are doing a September transfer, I start BCP probably the end of July and then I'll start meds hopefully the end of August. Anyhow, good luck, and I don't claim to know tons, but I've read everything I can get my hands on, so hopefully we can answer each other's questions!

  7. Hi Ladies,

I finally go to the Dr. tomorrow morning for my u/s & b/w. I'm Praying & Hoping that the cysts went away and I can start my stims.
    I'll keep you all posted

  8. I'm sooo excited this morning... I went this morning for my u/s & b/w and NO MORE CYSTS LADIES!!!! I was praying soooo hard and hoping for the best but preparing myself for the WORST. I was stressed out!

So I start my stims TONIGHT... My protocol starts as 20units of Lup. 225 of the pen, and 2 powders + 1water. I'm ihope it doesn't hurt but at the same time NO PAIN NO GAIN

So ladies please hope for the best for me as I will def. be doing the same for you.

    Smoochies

    Marine Wife--
My DH is also a para and I totally know what you mean about not knowing anything about the SA. We've just started the process but are hoping to do a September transfer too... We haven't made it to the doc yet, trying to find ways to pay for everything, but I'm hopeful that everything will go well!

  10. Hi Everyone,

When I started the IVF process 2 years ago, I searched and searched for similar stories (there weren't very many, unfortunately). Anyway, DH has severe severe MF (we're talking double digit sperm count, and at first, we were told he was azoospermic---that is such a crushing blow!). Luckily, we found out he wasn't which allowed us not to have to deal with TESE by the grace of God.
However, on the day of transfer, the Dr. was upset because our embies were of very mediocre to poor quality. He blamed in on \"bad sperm\" in spite of my good eggs (I was 23 at the time). We were so bummed. I cried during my transfer already mentally planning my next cycle.
Anyway, 3 weeks later, I discovered that we were pg. with triplets! The Dr. was astounded as he basically braced us for it not to work at all. After a very uneventful but very tedious and tiring pregnancy, the babies were born at 9 months. They're now a year old, and I still remember all the stress and loss I felt when we first learned my DH was azoospermic.
Good luck to all of you. I hope I hear of some BFP's soon!

    tagyg-
We had a hard time deciding when to do a cycle, mostly because of coming up with ways to find the money...it's fun isn't it... We finally just decided to take out a loan and pay for the shared risk program our clinic offers. It's more expensive obviously, but we just didn't want to be out of options if our first cycle didn't work. This way we have two more chances after the first transfer. It's nice to meet someone in a similar situation also, I enjoying browsing these boards and reading people's stories but I don't think I've come across anyone yet that's dealing with MF due to paralysis. Good luck with everything!

Completely understood...we are looking at selling some things that we think may be enough to cover the costs. Our clinic doesn't have a shared risk program, but there is one about 2 hours away. I just don't know because I'd hate to spend so much extra and then have it work on the first round...but I'd also hate to NOT do the extra and have to do 3 or 4 rounds... I've found a few others on here dealing with MF due to paralysis...one is a proud mom of twins now and the other is still TTC...look under the reasons link and their's one for spinal cord injury if you want to hear their stories...I sent them a message from their posts there... I'm really glad to have found other women going through similar situations.... Good luck in September! Keep me posted!!!!!

  13. So ladies,

I'm a little nervous because I have been taking the 3 stims for 2 nights... I go to get my u/s & b/w done today and apparently, my Dr. says that I have only 2 follicilles that large and the others are very small....
he said this be a problem because those two will suck up all the injections and get hugh but the others won't grow that much....WTF
How can you have GREAT NEWS on Monday Morning and THIS on Wednesday morning....
So now I'm waiting for the Dr to call to let me know if I'm going to continue this cycle of IVF

    Any comments, suggestions, etc.

  14. DH & I have our first appointment tomorrow. Does anyone have any suggestions as to questions we should ask or tips for getting thru the next 18 hours so I don't go crazy? I never thought I'd be this nervous about a doctor's appointment!!!
