My Zillionith Triple Stripe Question...

  1. OK, I haven't really asked this question a zillion times, but close enough - LOL ...

After close to 4 months of depot Lupron, followed by 14 days of estrace, my lining has great thickness at 9.4mm. This is the thickest that my lining has ever been... Unfortunately, it is lacking the elusive triple stripe. Ladies out there who have been in the same boat, ie no triple stripe and achieved BFPs (or heard of it), please give me some hope as I count down towards transfer - July 23.

    Thanks!

    WB

  2. Bumping you up, I also need a lot of help in thickening my lining. Currently doing another mock cycle and started the Estrace on day 1, taking 2mg twice a day vaginally. How much Estrace are you on? I am also trying acupuncture, pomegranate juice and hoping for the best. Would love to hear from others who got the triple stripe and what they had to do. Thank you for posting this topic maria_tsae, and good luck to you.

  3. Hey farida, I started out at 1 estrace tablet per day then every three days I would add another tablet. Now I am up to 5 estrace tablets per day (2 in AM, 3 in PM) all taken orally... My lining responded very well, other then not getting the triple stripe.

  4. I have heard of fish oil and raspberry leaf tea as well. If anyone needs raspberry leaf tea let me know as I have about 4 boxes I could send to someone.

I talked to the clinic this am about the elusive triple stripe and what it means. They do like to see it, but they do see pregnancy without it. Same with lining - they all seem have their different opinions on what does and doesn't work.

I am crossing my fingers and toes and doing a "perfect lining dance" for everyone. Triple stripe or not - that we all have receptive linings this month and that our embies snuggle in nice and tight.

  5. A, Thanks for adding this for Alana ... Maybe this is what has made the diff for me, as I religiously take 4 tabs of fish oil/daily and I drink raspberry leaf tea - although not so much pass few days since it's been so hot.

  6. You guys rock, thanks for that info. Thanks for the offer to send the tea A but I will run to the store and get some right now as I need to get on it right away. I am on fish oil tablets but was only doing two a day so will increase those. I had tears reading your suggestions as I was really feeling low today as I felt like nothing was going to work for me. When I went for my baseline check on Sunday, my lining was 2.9 and I did not get AF after doing the BCP's and Lupron. The RE said not to worry about the AF and I started taking Vivelle Dots, Lupron and Estrace. I go back in 2 weeks and hopefully I will have good news then. Thank you so much for posting this maria_tsae, you made my day A and I can go to bed with some reassurance today.

    Blessings,

    farida

  7. And I heard if you drink the raspberry leaf tea you are supposed to stop before transfer - I think they actually say around ovulation time - assuming ovulation. Don't quote me on that, but I remember reading that at some point and it freaked me out thinking maybe in trying to do good I had actually done myself harm. I have also ready accupuncture is good as well - but not sure how long it takes in order for it to be of a real benefit.

With this cycle I have asked the re about every little thing I do. I am sure I ma driving him insane.

  8. maria_tsa,

When I had local monitoring for my current cycle, they couldn't see the triple stripe. I have read, I think from a post by BethZG, that sometimes they can see the triple stripe with an abdominal ultrasound even if they can't see it with a transvaginal ultrasound.

    HTH,
    Beth

  9. maria_tsa--

Yes, I am the ultrasound triple stripe mystery poster.

Here is the deal, as I understand it: about 30-40% of women (including me) have a retroverted (also called tipped) uterus, which means that the uterus sits in a different position within your abdominal cavity than it does for others.

It is so common that doctors will often not mention it to their patients when they see it on ultrasound.

The catch is that if you have this, a transvaginal (TV) u/s will not be able to pick up the triple stripe pattern very well, if at all. The endometrial lining will appear homogeneous. It's due to the way the sound waves are traveling through the body.

If the u/s tech does an abdominal scan instead of TV, the pattern will show up better.

I was told I was not getting the pattern when doing local monitoring with my old clinic. When I decided to go out to CO (to my current clinic) for my lining check, the tech told me why they were not picking it up, showed me the triple stripe on the screen, and told me to always request an abdominal scan for lining checks. I have always been able to see it when they do the scan that way.

So that could be the problem for you.

I have also been told that it doesn't seem to make too much of a difference if it's there or not.

  10. Hey Zbeth, thanks! The nurse at my doc's office also told me the same thing and told me to ask the ultrasound tech (I am doing remote monitoring) if this described me... The tech said that I do not have a tipped uterus... I'm glad to hear so much concensus here though about triple stripe importance...

Alana, take two DHA/EPA tabs (fish oil) in the AM and two in the PM... Are you taking baby/low dose aspirin (81mg)? This is also supposed to be good for increasing bloodflow.

    xo, WB

  11. Thanks maria_tsae, I increased my fish oil from your suggestions yesterday and started on the raspberry tea. I will go get the Aspirin as well, thanks again.

  12. I'm with CCRM. I was told the triple stripe isn't such a big deal - they're interested in the lining thickness predominantly.

  13. WB,
I asked Dr. H at SDFC about the triple stripe when we did my FET transfer in January and he did not seem to think it was necessary as long as I had a nice thick lining. The only place I have heard reference to the importance of triple stripe is here on the boards so, I hope that gives you some peace of mind. I really don't think I ever had it either. You are doing awesome this time around with your lining! I think the oral estrace protocol and baby asprin combo made a difference with me too.
You will have to give Dr. H a hug from me if he does your transfer.

  14. Thank you Jane and Aloha my friend for the advice re: triple stripe!!! Aloha, my doc is actually Dr K, but he will be on vacation, so Dr H will do the transfer... I will definitely give him a hug from you (seriously!)... xox

AlannasMom, wishing you all the very best... I am anxious to hear how your lining ck goes... What is the date? Whe is your transfer? Are you in July? Please join us on the July cyclers board.

  15. maria_tsae:
I am doing a mock cycle right now, the second one at that.....I am hoping to cycle in Aug/Sept and my next check is on 7/25 and I am looking forward to seeing how much all the interventions I have done so far have helped. I had read on these boards that Viagra helped some but my RE doesn't believe in it and won't give me a script. Thanks again for starting the thread, I have learned a lot at a time I needed it the most

    Blessings,

    farida

  16. Ah makes sense... It is GREAT that you are doing a mock cycle now and able to see what impact you can having on improving your lining... Many of us go into a cycle and try to impact change in the lining as we're cycling, which doesn't leave a lot of 'wiggle room'...

  17. All of my RE's over the years told me the same thing the triple stripe really doesn't matter much to them....for them a lining of at least 8mm is whats really important although they would tell me they have seen pregnancies that happened with 5-6mm linings and they were amazed....I was also told the same thing re: my uterus I have a very tipped uterus that is just all over the place in there and my RE commented and said who knows some of the cycles I could have had a triple stripe its so hard to tell with me.....for my successful cycle my lining just barely hit 8mm and didnt look fantastic I know it was bi-layered but I dont remember if they ever saw a triple stripe and 1 bean did take....all in all I have heard the thickness is most important....good luck!

  18. I had the triple stripe but when I asked my RE about it and he showed me on the u/s he said it wasn't nearly as important and some docs make it out to be. Plenty of women get a bfp without one and plenty get a bfn with one.

  19. Hi maria_tsa,
Are you cycling at SDFC? I am and will be there this Monday. My donor is scheduled for retreival between 7/21-7/24 and transfer 5 days later. Are you doing fresh or frozen and is this your first DE cycle?

Thank you Jane and Aloha my friend for the advice re: triple stripe!!! Aloha, my doc is actually Dr K, but he will be on vacation, so Dr H will do the transfer... 20. Hey Looking, this is my 3rd FET. The first two failed and after this, I'll have no more embies, so this is it... I actually have a 2 year old son from my live DE transfer... Since this is my last try and I wanted to optimize my chances as much as possible, I transfered my embies from my original clinic in Texas to SDFC. Thus far, I have been very pleased with their care and responsiveness... I will be in San Diego on July 22 (Wed). My transfer takes place on July 23 and we'll be there thru Sunday. Where are you staying?

    xo, WB

  21. Hi WB,
I'm staying at Stratford about a mile from the office I understand. Anna is going to be there also. I'm flying in on Monday, have appoint with Dr. K on Tues. should know by this w/e when the actual transfer is. Donor has another US today.

  22. I'll be at the Stratford too!!! I'll be on bedrest July 23 - July 25, so maybe you and Anna can come by and keep me company!! Let's exchange some PMs w/contact info.

  23. WB,

Just saw your post - good luck my dear! I hope this would be the one!

Send me a message when you come back - maybe we can get together soon

    Diva

  24. Hey Diva, Great to see you! We are long overdue!!! When I'm back in office on Tuesday, I'll look at some dates and leave you a PM for some possible times to get together... I work in SJ quite a bit, so I'll throw out some suggestions around dates/times when I'm down that way. xoxx, WB

  25. Hi there -
was reading through your post here as I have had to work at getting the elusive triple stripe during my cycles and wanted to ask you all about fish oil. I do take an omega with my prenatals (duet DHA), but don't take supplemental fish oil. Can you all tell me what the fish oil is supposed to do for the lining exactly?

FWIW, I've also heard that the triple stripe doesn't matter, but I still find myself thinking about it a bit.
