Sorry for asking a question that has probably been asked a million times, but can someone tell me how to get myself on the active DE list for Cornell. I'm a patient at Cornell, last saw Spandorfer in October to discuss next steps including possibly DE - although we didn't talk about it in any detail. I just had my last FET which is currently ending in a m/c, so I want to get on the active list as soon as possible. Do I have to schedule a consult with Spandorfer or with someone else to talk about the donation process?

I'm also interested in hearing about other NYC clinics people have used/liked.

  2. Kate - I am so sorry about the m/c.

Call Dr. S office to set up "DE consult". The day of your consult will be your date for your place on the list. You will become active on the list once you have a psych consult and complete the mock/prep cycle.

I used Cornell for DE and was very happy with the program.

  3. Kate, I would call Dr. Spandorfer and ask him if your last meeting counts as your DE consult. Sometimes he will put in his notes that its was a consult. If that is the case you are techniclly already on the inactive wait list. To get on the active wait list you just need to complete your mock cycle and your testing. Once your active they match you in order of your DE consult date (so its a very impt. date). Spandy did this for me and it cut months off my wait time. GL

I am very sorry about your MC. It sucks.

  4. Lany, meropi - thanks. I'll call him this week.

What does the mock cycle consist of? They just want to make sure that you can create a favorable uterine environment on the meds, right? I recently did a FET and had a great response. I'm wondering if it is similar (and if they ever let you use that experience and forego the mock)?

  5. Kate:

I just finished the mock cycle in November. Basically they put you on lupron and the estrogen patches to make sure your lining thickens properly. It takes 21 or 28 days.. can't remember.

  6. hi, i am meeting next week to do mock cycle, is there anything else you can tell me about it other than taking shots, i suppose it is easier than when you stim bc your ovaries don't grow...but what other things happen physically, do you just live life as usual or does it make you feel different??

    thanks!!

The prep cycle is pretty easy. Just 2 ultra sounds (don't remember how many blood draws). Honestly, lupron makes me crazy, so I had problems with the prep (so much that my RE gave the ok for me to not use lupron during my actual DE cycle). But, if you are ok on Lupron the prep should be no big deal at all (actually easy compared to an IVF cycle).
