  1. On behalf of the great Riri/Firstimer, I am posting this here...

Once again, RESOLVE is sponsoring an Advocacy Day for infertility awareness on Capitol Hill. It will take place on June 25.

Unlike other years where we advocated on a number of issues, this year, in recognition of the health care debate going on in Congress, we will focus only on health care coverage for infertility. Specifically, on insuring that infertility is addressed in the overall health care bill that will come out of this Congress, and secondly, supporting the current legislation, The Family Building Act.

By signing up for Advocacy Day, you will have the opportunity to learn about the issues, be trained for speaking to your elected representatives, meet other families going through the same thing you're going through and then go to Capitol Hill and meet with your representatives.

No one will tell our story for us. If you have bemoaned the fact that you can't afford your treatment, that you don't have insurance, that you pay $6000 for your meds and someone else pays a copay of $25, now is the time to make your voices heard. And in you have insurance, now is the time to do something for those who don't.

Please register (which is FREE) at Resolve.org/AdvocacyDay. Please feel free to ask questions here and they will be answered. For those who have participated in the past, please feel free to tell your story.

    Thank you.

  2. I attended last year. It was, without a doubt, one of the most memorable and uplifting experiencs I have EVER had. I felt empowerd. I felt that I had a voice. Yes, little old me, as a citizen of the United States, had a VOICE and I USED it. I met with reps, and they listened to me. I've never had an experience like that before. I was on a high for days after. Personally, it was one of the best things I have ever done.

If anyone is wavering about going, there is no doubt - GO. It may change your life, or your view on our government, or make you feel like you are doing something active instead of hanging out in Cycling Hell. For one day, you get to step out of that role and be an ADVOCATE. Do you know how amazing it feels to have such an amazing and empowering day, after day after day and month after month of feeling like absolute $hit 24/7?

I\'m not clearly expressing myself here as well I as I wished I could (not a good writer, much better in person.) But of course PM me if you want more details or more info about my experience.

It's worth it. It's worth it to leave your DH/partner, get on a train, deal with a hotel and time away from your home, to do this. Not just for all us IF'ers, but for YOU as a person, a person who can maybe, just maybe, feel whole for one glorious day, instead of the fractured pieces we always feel.......

  3. That's awesome! Thanks for posting this. If it weren't my anniversary, I'd consider it (have a few friends in DC). I hope others are able to attend. I'd love if they'd include IVF coverage. I'd be happy if just 2 cycles + meds were covered at this pt. It'd be a start!
