First Beta, Low Progesterone

  1. Hi everyone.

We did a 3 day FET and I had my beta yesterday. I had to have it one day early, since I cycle out of state and could not get results to my clinic due to the time change.

Since we did the blood draw on day ten I was warned that my beta may be low. It came back at 103 and we are thrilled. The only problem is my progesterone came back at 4.9 and my RE wanted it at 6. I am doing vaginal suppositories 4x daily and today they added PIO. My nurse did not seemed concerned, but I am nervous. I even told her that my local clinic offered to have me come in and get a PIO shot from them. She didn't think it was necessary.

Today I have lost some symptoms. I no longer have cramps, frequent urination, insomnia or dull lower backache. I know some of these symptoms are because of low progesterone and I am hoping that means my levels are going up.

Any thoughts? Has this happened to anyone else and continued to have a successful pregnancy? Thanks for all you replies.

  2. That is a great first beta- I really hope they can get your progesterone level up. Most ivf clinics actually want it over 20, and the minimum of 10. They really should recheck u when they recheck your beta. I hope all works out fine for u. Wishing u the best.

  3. when on suppositories it always measures low. Mine was 19 at first beta and dropped to 16 two days later, but all is still good. My Re actually told me at 19 it was one of the highest they had ever seen for someone on suppositories.

You may continue to test low, but again, the suppositories aren't measuring. It may be why adding in PIO every 2nd or 3rd day is good, that way when you test you will get an accurate reading and know all is good.

Adding in PIO won't hurt anything, only be that added boost for comfort.

Wishing you the best of luck. When do you retest?

  4. Thanks for your replies.

I test again tomorrow morning. I will keep you posted.

  5. Will, it looks like I can relax a bit. My beta came in at 522 and my P4 was forty something. Thanks again for your help.
