does lupron delay AF?

  1. Hi Ladies,

I am waiting to cycle next month and will be taking Lupron on day 21. I have never taken Lupron before and I am concerned it will delay my period. I will be traveling abroad for treatment so it is important to me that period is not delayed at all. I cannot take BCP because it thins my lining too much.

If your period was delayed, how many days was it delayed for.

  2. Roxie,

That has happened to me 2 times since turning 40. I didn't seem to have this problem when I was younger, so maybe that's a factor. The first time it happened, I was also on BCP & my period was delayed by about 7 days. The second time, we tried it without BCPs, and it was delayed by about 5 days. It was very frustrating, and a big part of the reason I insisted on the Antagon protocol this time (no Lupron, 2 wks of BCP -- my period was right on time).

Again, I think it was an age related problem for me. Not sure how old you are....

It's so hard to plan anything around IVF. You never know what will happen!
    Good luck,
    Ziggy

  4. Thanks for answering my question and sharing your experiences. I am 35 yrs old. I have been trying to see if I can change my protocol because I cannot have a delayed period but my clinic does not seem to understand this . I have asked to take BCP instead. Now just need a straight answer
