Do you think an 8yo is too young to have a cellphone?

  1. Mine had one at 8yo, given to him by the grandparents. It was an old thing, pay as you go, and actually it's been great. He now gets our old ones when they're replaced on contract. He keeps it in his pocket and only uses it rarely, to tell us where he is (kids round our way seem to have a lot of freedom - he was walking to school unaccompanied at age 7). Now, age 12, he can decide to go to a club after school and just let us know when he'll be home. Or text a friend to meet up on their bikes. It's never been a hassle tbh.

    Isn't that the truth?
When we go back to Europe I see a lot of young kids w/ cell phones and it seems OK, because they really have a lot more freedom.
