Beta on Feb 5th...anyone else?

  1. I have my Beta on this Friday the 5th. Anyone else? Has anyone else POAS or am I alone in my insanity. ;-)

  2. My beta is Feb 4th... I POAS this morning, but nothing yet. I did take the test apart and studied it thoroughly under direct lighting. Dh and I agreed there was a shadow of a line in the area where the 2nd line should be, but he's not letting me count that!

So, no, you are NOT alone! I'd like to POAS everytime I go, but I'm limiting myself to first thing in the morning only...

    Good luck to us both!!

  3. Lol...SLOGOTHETIS, I POAS today too. I also held it up to the light and was able to see a faint line. However, my hubby refuses to count it! I feel your pain! I will POAS tomorrow too! Let's report back. :-) Good luck & hopes for a darker line!

  4. Well, I tried again today, and the line was definitely more prominent this time -- still faint, but there. I actually took the test, didn't see anything immediately and hopped in the shower. DH then looked at it and showed me the results. He swears it was only 5-6 minutes, and def. no more than 10, from the time I took test to when he saw results. So I'm hoping it's legitimate! Going on a HPT run on my lunch break!! Need further confirmation!

How did yours look this morning??

  5. My Beta is the 5th as well. I had a negative HPT yesterday and a positive this morning. I used a digital one this morning (ClearBlue). I am 6dp5dt or 11dpo. Jeni

  6. OMG! Congrats to you both! I went to do it this morning and I was out of HPT's! Sigh...I thought I had one in the drawer, but apparently not. So, I will go get one today and check back in. I am really excited for you both....hopefully I can report back the same! :-D

Report back if you do it again and/or after your beta.

  7. do you mind if I butt in here. Am also due to test on the 5th. I have not poas and am terrified to do so. Congrats to all with good news so far.

I keep thinking I feel period coming, or could it be success and go back and forth all day every day. This 2 week wait could really make the sanest person go crazy.

  8. HI! I'm new here also and wanted to jump in:

We are on IVF#5 (only one chemical last year; all others BFN) and my beta is 2/5 also. My doctor does a day 4 transfer. He transferred 2 last Monday and today I had spotting in the am. This is the only IVF where I really haven't had any cramping and where I have spotted-although it was very very little. I'm wondering if my spotting today could be implantation or is it too late and that should have already happened?
    Thoughts anyone?
    Thanks so much!

  9. skarkos - Of course you can jump on in here! Welcome! And I agree, I feel crazy waiting.

mzor - I am so sorry, but I have no idea about implantation timelines. Although cramping can be happening from the prog. too I think. I hope that those embryos are snuggling in!

I took a HPT today and it was negative. But, I did buy the cheap store brand since I ordered some online that will be here tomorrow. I didn't want to pay the EPT/First Response price, but now I regret it! Sigh. I will wait until tomorrow morning to test again. Double sigh....

  10. hunter:
Don't be too discouraged; it is soo early. In a previous cycle, I took a home test and was negative the night before beta, got a positive beta the next day (chemical pregnancy/started bleeding immediately), and then a positive home test the day of beta, followed by negative home test the next day when my levels dropped. Basically, home tests, and cheap ones, can be all over the board.
Wishing u luck! Waiting anxiously with you! (and trying to decide if/when to test myself)

  11. Welcome to the madness skarkos and scottsdale!!

Glad to see so many of us waiting together....the 2ww can definitely make you question your sanity!!

Hope the 5th ends up being a lucky day for you all -- as well as the 4th for me!! My DS was born on the 5th, but he was due on the 4th -- so I'm hoping that's a sign of positive things to come...literally!!

Sam -- can't wait to hear your report tomorrow. I take it the test you used this morning wasn't the same brand you used yesterday?? Have you dug the original back out of the trash to stare at it a few more times? I have!!!

Scottsdale -- I also am not sure about implantation times. But I would take light spotting as a good sign! The link below was posted a while ago on another thread, it is really interesting and informative. It states that implantation can begin around day 5 or 6 and not be complete until day 12 -- when was your retrieval?

  12. SLOGOTHETIS: Great link! Thank you for sharing. This gives insight into what is happening for us (let's hope) that we otherwise have to make ourselves insane worrying about! My retrieval was 11 days ago....I guess the spotting gives me a little hope b/c I've never done it before and all previous IVF cycles were negative. Anytime there is a change, I have a glimmer of hope.

I\'m new here on the site-all I've done is 'reply to thread'. How do I start a new post all together? Just figuring this all out!

  13. Maybe this will help some of us who are obsessing:

This is what happens in a 5dt:

-1dpt ..embryo is growing and developing
0dpt... Embryo is now a blastocyst
1dpt....Blastocyst hatches out of shell on this day
2dpt.. Blastocyst attaches to a site on the uterine lining
3dpt.. Implantation begins,as the blastocyst begins to bury in the lining
4dpt.. Implantation process continues and morula buries deeper in the lining
5dpt.. Morula is completely implanted in the lining and has placenta cells & fetal cells
6dpt...Placenta cells begin to secret HCG in the blood
7dpt...More HCG is produced as fetus develops
8dpt...More HCG is produced as fetus develops
9dpt...HCG levels are now high enough to be immediately detected on HPT

this is what happens in a 3dt :

1dpt ..embryo is growing and developing
2dpt... Embryo is now a blastocyst
3dpt....Blastocyst hatches out of shell on this day
4dpt.. Blastocyst attaches to a site on the uterine lining
5dpt.. Implantation begins as the blastocyst begins to bury in the lining
6dpt.. Implantation process continues and morula buries deeper in the lining
7dpt.. Morula is completely implanted in the lining and has placenta cells & fetal cells
8dpt...Placenta cells begin to secret HCG in the blood
9dpt...More HCG is produced as fetus develops
10dpt...More HCG is produced as fetus develops
11dpt...HCG levels are now high enough to be immediately detected on HPT

Also, out of curiosity, did you all do a 3dt or 5dt, how many embryos did you implant?

    I did a 5dt and implanted 1 perfect embryo! :-)

  14. Thanks for sharing this! We did a day 4 transfer; our clinic/embryologist does day 4 a lot and transferred 2 great quality little ones!

  15. We did a day 3 transfer. Transferred two embryos, a B8 and a B7. Took another HPT this morning and the 2nd line is very noticeable now!! Don't think it will really feel true until after the 2nd beta (at least!), but cautiously very hopeful!!

Have you guys decided whether or not you will POAS?

Scottsdale -- To start a new thread just go to the main page of the board you want the thread on (2ww, Gen IVF, etc) and at the top left there is a link for New Thread.

  16. Thanks Sam,
That was a helpful post. We did a 3 day transfer of 1 9-cell embryo. This is my last (6th) cycle so I hope it works.
    Good luck everyone.

  17. No problem ladies! This was helpful for me...I was totally jumping the gun testing so early. Technically, I am only 5dp5dt, so my HCG shouldn't even start until tomorrow. IDK why but they wrote the 5th as my beta and I think it should have been the 6th (I just noticed this yesterday) since they like you to test 10 days after transfer. Oh well, I'll take the 9th day! :-)

I tested again this morning (yet again with another brand) and my hubby bought the digital ones that only say pregnant and not pregnant. Sigh, those are not helpful at this stage! I should get the ones I ordered online today in the mail ( Those are supposed to be the same as the ones at the docs office, so we'll see.

So far, I am now convinced that the first faint line I got was def. from the trigger shot. The good news is that now I know it is out of my system and when I get a positive result, I will know it is for real.

Good luck testing today ladies! Has anyone else POAS yet?

Zaksmom- YAY! I am so happy for you! How exciting!

  18. This is my 3rd IVF -with two embryos one 6 and one 9 cell

  19. So happy for those who have seen a + on HPT. I think I will take one Friday morning before I go for blood work so that I find out on my own and not over the telephone with my nurse. Every previous cycle I have done a home test at that point so the call I received was never a total shock!

I may cave before then though.

  20. For those of you with a positive HPT, do you feel any different? Anything?
I have a little tiny glimmer of hope this cycle, and I don't want to take an HPT because I'm afraid it is negative. I feel nothing!
Do you guys feel any symptoms at all? I know it is so early....but I always think when I do finally get a + someday, my body would have felt a little differently.

  21. Hey ladies, well, last night I took 2 tests that both had faint lines. Woohoo! BUT, then I made the mistake of testing again this morning...and nothing. :-( Hmmm....I am wondering if it is possible to release more HCG at certain times of day. IDK. I remember with my 1st DD I tested twice in one day and only got a positive at night. So, maybe it's just my body.

Scottsdale, I think that for me, I am all confused whether or not I a pregnant b/c of the progesterone. It's giving signals of pregnancy even though I don't know if they are true or not. With my first 2 pregnancies, I knew I was pregnant. But, the other 2 were naturally conceived and this one is IVF and I have no idea how that's effecting me. I think it's just stressing me out to the point where I can't be as in tune with myself as I normally am. Which is especially why the 2ww is killing me!

  22. Okay, I checked the tests again after the pink background totally cleared...there are faint lines (they are more faint than last night though). I hope they continue to get darker! :-D

  23. Congratulations! I was just reading a different thread on here last night where people were discussing that FMU is not always the best for HPT's. I was surprised by how many said they got better results by testing in the afternoon/evening. So you are not alone!

Scottsdale -- I had some light cramping about 5-6 days after my transfer, as well as some lower back pain. But I remeber having the same feelings during my last cycle and hoping it was implantaion and that cycle was a BFN. So I agree with Sam that it's so hard to tell between actual symptoms and progesterone side effects -- and it will make you crazy trying! But hey, that's the fun of the 2ww, right??

With my first pregnancy I had absolutely no symptoms. Even after I knew I was pregnant. Never had sickness, cravings, etc. But, I just had a feeling I was going to get a + during the 2ww. So maybe your glimmer of hope is your intuition kicking in!!

This time around, I still don't really have any symptoms. Breasts are sore, but they always get like that when I'm on progesterone. The only noticeable difference for me is that last weekend I was very hormonal for some reason. ( DH would probably say bitchy! ). And I didn't even realize how uptight I was until I tried to tell DH why I was upset and all of a sudden I was crying like a baby. And I hardely ever cry! So, that made me think maybe there was more going on inside than I thought. I think part of my stress was being worried because I wasn't having any symptoms!! Oh, the mind games we play with ourselves during this process!!!

So, fingers crossed tight for you. If you do POAS good luck and let us know!! If not, Friday is almost here!!

  24. Mommy SG:
We\'ve done 4 previous IVF cycles. Only one did I get a positive even though I had already started bleeding before my beta. It was a chemical-and very low #. Anyway, I got a negative HPT the morning of the beta, a + low beta, and then a +HPT that night. So I think sometimes the time of day can definitely affect the HPT, especially when the levels are lower during the early, early phases....hoping you keep getting darker!!! It certainly makes us all crazy waiting. Stay positive, it is looking good!

Zaksmom: Isn't it true how crazy we get? I think my loss of belief this will work for me is that we've had so many failures (IVF and IUI). We have no children, and I've started to think it can never happen for us. That is not a good attitude to have (and I'm a very positive person in all other areas of my life). This infertility road has really rocked my world. I wish I could believe .....that is why I'm too afraid to take the test. It is like I'm afraid to see it again. As for the emotions, I was a complete train wreck on Sunday. I think my hubby thought I was losing my mind; I was crying about everything too. Here's to the 2 ww............

  25. Well no will power I tested and regretting it. Bfn at 7dp5dt oh well planning our next cycle already to help my sadness. The weird thing is I don't remember ever having evap lines on first response tests. I looked at my test about an hour or so after and saw a clear line no squinting required. And u know not to look and just throw away after 5 10 minutes but no not me. So now I'm holding onto maybe a little bit of hope? I actually still have them on the counter just so i can look at them every once in a while and wonder what the heck are these lines. why why why?

    Hope all is well girls!
