  1. I'm excited to be going through my 1st IVF cycle. Can anyone tell me about the shots and what to expect with the booster? I start my stim on 5/18 and hopefully my ER & ET within the 1st 2weeks of June 09. Let me know what I'm in for ladies

  2. Congrat on starting!! as for what your in emotional ride lke non other. I did my first cycle when I was 25ish and had my daughter(now 2 1/2). I was straight forward and not to bad. The shots, my husband gave then to me and it didn;t bother me until I started PIO( perges in oil). Those needles hurt( sorry) As for the ER I had 24 mature and 18 fert. We transfered 2 8 cell embies and 1 took!! I always have a hard time with the anastisia so if you prone to that sort of stuff tell them ahead of time. I didn't do any bed rest after, I felt go to go back to work....but taking time for your self to lay around is a nice thing to do. I have to say the 2ww to find out if your preggers is the HARDEST PART/ All I can say is this time in your life is exiting, scary, filled with highs and low lows. It a time to really lean on you husband and friends for support.
I was blessed to have my baby on the first try..but now trying for my second I'm now onto my 7th cycle and nothing. So It's been a rough time for me but worth every try. Great luck to you. I'm stsrting a frozen cycle this week so I'm right there with you.

  3. I'm in the midst of my first IVF. I started BCP in early April, Lupron in late April and stims on May 8th. I had my husband give me my fist few Lupron shots. But then I had to be gone for 4 days on a business trip so I had to do it on my own. I was really surprised how thick the epidermis is! You have to jab a little to get the needle to puncture. But once you get the hang of it you can do it without even feeling it very much! The first night I mixed my stims I was a little intimidated by the volume of fluid (10 times as much as the Lupron) so I had my husband do it. However, on the third day of stims I was traveling alone and so had to do it on my own too. Even though the syringe is bigger, the needles I use for the stims is about the same size as the Lurpon so it doesn't really hurt that much either. It is a little uncomfortable when I inject the fluid - I try to depress the plunger slowly and not push the needle farther into my belly as I'm injecting. Like I said, it's a little uncomfortable, but I wouldn't really call it \"painful\". That said, one night I bled after I removed the needle from injecting my Lupron. That time it hurt a little more than usual going in. A few days later I developed a little bruise. This happened again last week when I was doing my stims. Then last night, as I was doing my stims injection, I told my husband that the puncture hurt more than normal and I bet I was going to bleed when I pulled it out. And I did. It's not a bid deal (medically or pain wise) but you can definitely tell if you hit a blood vessel going in!

    Good luck to you!

  4. Thank you for all your comments, stories & suggestions.
test_user- congrads on the successful 1st IVF and even though its taking a little more effort this time it will be worth it.

kakioula- Thank you for telling me about the shots. my dh will be giving them to me. So hopefully it wont be too bad.

i'm still waiting on my cycle to start so that I can get to my stims. and so forth.

Best Wishes to both of you on this emotional rollercoaster

  5. I started my Lupron on 4/26 and that was okay. I'm really freaked out by needles but I knew this would be well worth it. They didn't hurt too bad. I started the other two shots (stimulations) on 5/9 and they really aren't that bad either. I sometimes give them to myself when my husband has to work overtime. I never in a million years would have thought that I could give them to myself!! I go tomorrow for more blood (which I'm having drawn every other day now) in the morning and I have an ultrasound appt at 3. I'm very very nervous but my nurse says that my body is responding well to the meds so I just hope my body keeps up the good work! lol
I'm having invitro because I had to have my fallopian tubes removed do to endometriosis several years ago. I'm 32 now and this is the only time I'm going to do this so I'm really hoping it works!! I'm just a few steps ahead of you so if you have any questions, I would be happy to try to help!! Lots of luck to you!!

By the way....I found giving myself the shots to be less painful than when my husband gives them to me!

  6. Thank you for the information. I'm on the same page, I don't think I can take continuing to try after trying. I hope you and you dh all the best. It can be very emotional and nerve recking.
I try to think that if I have children then I'll have to learn patience; SO that's how I'm attempting to look at it.... Quite weird but its working...

I am still waiting on this FREAK FRACKIN CYCLE
Any other time it comes like the moon....but its not due until tomorrow so let me work on that Patient thing again.
I am def. a character so you have to be silly to even deal with
I know you're like this chick is CRAZY....

Anyway, Mandy I need to get back to work so I can leave early today \"IT'S FRIDAY FOR GOD SAKES\"

  7. Don't worry, I like crazy people!! lol
So I had my transfer on Monday and I'm working on this patience thing but it's not going very well. I NEED to know if my embies are still in there!!!!! I'm so bloated and miserable!!! It gets better by the day but good grief!! I thought I would DIE after the ER. PAIN PAIN PAIN!!! I hope it's all worth it!!

Just an fyi.....the progesterone HURTS!! It's bearable but I don't think I've ever clinched my butt cheeks so tight in my life!! lol

How\'s it going with you? Anything new??

  8. sorry about my absence
