Anyone have a Bosch washer?

  1. If you have been reading my less than Happy posts lately, part of that has to do with my household appliances trying to do me in.
The Frigidaire washing machine that I got last month to replace my 5 year old GE blew a gasket. It can't be repaired.
I am getting a full refund on the washer, but after putting thousands of grueling hours of research (which I did when I picked the Frigidaire- they were the first company to make front loaders in Europe for 20 years, yada, yada) I learned that washing machines bought today are only built to last 7 - 11 years. I can't efffing afford that.

My research shows that the VERY BEST washing machine is a Miele (I have a Miele vacuum; I believe it) but they start at 2k. - BUT- they come with a 20 year warrantee. Which I can ill afford, especially since all my appliances ganged up on me last month and quit. En mass. Like they had a midnight meeting or something and purposely orchestrated it. Like they would rather die than live with me one.more.minute.

Anyway, my research showed that the next best thing to a Miele washing machine is a Bosch (for reliability, folks). That's all I want. Nothing else. He!!, at this point I'm not too picky if it cleans my clothes well. I just want the thing to work.

Anyone have any experience with Bosch washing machines?

  2. Our last machine was a Bosch. We were very happy with it and it blows "normal" washing machines away. Our one before that was I think GE? Can't remember. In fact, the Bosch works so well that you use way less soap. I couldn't believe how clean our clothes were.

Downside- the computer monitor (?- thing that indicates where you are in the cycle) went out a lot, even though the machine itself did not break once.

The only reason I mention it, is that it is an upside and a downside. The machine "senses" how dirty your clothes are and runs until they are clean (SO AWESOME) so you never know with the indicator broken how long you have in a cycle- it is always changing.

    Totally get this machine.

  3. Thanks xrysanti!
The model I'm looking at is the 300 series (can't afford more than that) but I read that if you go with a good brand washing machine that prides itself on durability, the whole line will be good- the most expensive one or the one with minimal features (like I'm getting- it has a dial selector and LED indicator where the cycle is at)
BTW- even if the LED sensor does go out, it still keeps washing what you picked it to do anyways, right? I mean, say I want to run some towels. I put it on cotton, hot, and start. It will still do all that, right- but I just won't 'see' where it's at in the process?
I can totally live with that!
From the manual, it says that the longest cycle (well- just about all of the cycles) are 1 hour, which is what I was used to in Europe front loaders (loved them!) if you add another rinse, it's about 20 minutes extra, right?

  4. I have a Bosch washer/dryer and LOVE THEM!!! I can't say anything bad about them. We had Kenmore washer/dryer in our previous home and when we moved, I told dh I wanted Bosch, our old w/d was old and craaaappy!!! I've been nothing but pleased with them and I've had them over a year. Love them! My parents even bought Bosch w/d and they love theirs, too.

  5. Once- I am a low maintenance gal. We don't even own an iron. I've never rinsed twice, so have no idea. However, with a Bosch, can't see that that would be necessary. We did have the most expensive one though so I don't know if that alters the experience.

Yes, the machine will keep going but you won't know where you are in the cycle. Totally ot- I keep playing Nina Hagen's Africa song on and on and on. Can't get enough.

  6. I have the Bosch and like them.

I used to have the Kenmore HE3T for 6 years and LOVED them, nothing ever went wrong and they had great features.

I think Bosch is a bit overrated, just my opinion, even though I do like them.

  7. I have Bosch washer and dryer for several years now (I can't remember but it has to be 5+). We never had a problem. We pretty much do a load a day or a load every other day with the twins and the machine keeps on going.

  8. Thanks, Ladies. Your opinion makes me feel much better about my choice. I never thought it would be so darn hard to get a simple washer that works.

As long as I know when it's finished- I really don't care what point it's at. I have an internal clock for the washer- it's in a place where nobody can here it beeping (or spinning) so I just check in on it, it's usually on it's last spin.

Nina Hagen. Either you just heard it, or Bosch reminded you of her in Berlin, or you placed both me & her in both Berlin and Detroit subconsciously.
But, you might be the only one that might have get this reference- when I was pg. with ID twins, and we didn't know the sex, I had names picked out if they were girls. Lena and Lydia. Can you name both last names?
If you do, I will send you photographs of all three shot by me ;-)

  12. Ok, I've been checking my fb email like a monkey on crack. Maybe I gave the wrong address (it's not like anyone in the world has any obligations or, you know, responsibilities or anything heavens no).

ellen is lowercase and it's all one long phrase. Don't know if that changes it.

  14. WHAT? CLIENTS????? I am practically peeing. Moving this over to fb after the air conditioning people get here.

  15. I don't mean to interrupt but OA -have you considered that there might be something wrong with your electricity? It's just a thought and if you have already mentioned checking it out I apologize but to have all your appliances blow at around the same time and a new one going, maybe an electrician should check out your wiring-maybe you have not enough/too much amperage or something......? Anyway good luck ......
