  1. Welcome Akm, so sorry to hear about your loss. I'm glad that they figured out what was going on and got everything ready for this cycle though. I hope you have a great vacation!

Susan, your suprefact start is just around the corner! I hope you have a great vacation also!

AFM, nothing new here. Still no AF, so if anyone is holding her hostage, please send her my way, lol!

    Sarah

  2. Sarah - I should see AF this weekend, or early next week. If you haven't seen her by then, I'll send her over! (Or visa-versa if she is a no-show for me!)

akm - I'm so glad your doctors figured out the problem and fixed it, but wow. I'm so sorry that happened to you.

Susan - how is the Lupron going? I hope your headaches are going away.

Eliza - know what you mean - I'm on day 3 of Lupron and want to crawl under my desk to take a nap. Seriously thinking of going down to my car and snoozing for a while. But I'm too tired to walk down to the parkinglot.

Out - thank you for the insurance advice. I'm still trying to get my meds paid for by my insurance. The pharmacy told me everything is covered 100%, and sent me all of my meds. However they will not charge my insurance without my credit card number. It doesn't make sense. I feel like they are stalling until my doctor charges my insurance for the IVF (in July) so that will use up my lifetime max and I'll be forced to pay them in cash. They are so sleezy.

Ok, rant over. I hope you are all enjoying the day. Stims start next week for me! Then this will all start to feel more real... And then the real stress starts.

    Take care,
    Ziggy

  3. Akm- So sorry for your loss. Welcome to our group though! That's awesome that your meds are covered!

Sarah- Always made me nuts how you start out this whole thing hoping AF arrives, then praying AF doesn't arrive once you start!

Ziggy- That seems so bizarre about them needing your credit card before they submit to insurance! If your meds are covered, they're covered, right?!?! Wow! Didn't realize you stim next week! Think you'll be the first one of us to start!

Does anyone know how to make a chart so we can start keeping track of everyone?

My understanding on the whole meds thing is that they need to be in the fridge because we reuse vials and because they are punctured multiple times, it makes them breeding grounds for bacteria if they get too warm.

Am thrilled that tonight we cut my lupron dose in half, hoping I won't be as exhausted, but also REALLY HOPING my RE knows what he's doing and it's enough to keep me supressed until mid-July when I start stims!

    Eliza

  4. Eliza - glad you get to cut down on Lupron! I can hardly keep my eyes open on this stuff. You've been on it for so long... how do you manage?

I agree - we need a chart! Would something like the list below help? Maybe if everybody cuts & pastes the list and edits their own as necessary? I ordered it by stims date, but alot don't know when they will start, so pls edit and move yourself up as we go...

HTH, but if you have something better, pls submit it!

Ziggy, great chart. Just for example I copied and pasted the chart and changed my info for the day I start suprefact. If everyone who has changes or something to add just copies and pastes it, it will be less work for you who took the time to make the chart! Just a thought.

  10. Hi everyone,
I started my first IVF cycle and started lupron on 6/5.
I'm supposed to start FSH tomorrow but we are waiting to see if the urologist will be around to do a fresh aspiration on DH. DH has severe azoospermia. His version is so rare that the doctors are not sure about it.
We have donor sperm as back up. We did 11 IUIs with donor on various meds. Now everything is hinging on when this urologist is in town. I'm starting to feel like we rushed into this without all the info and it may get messed up! But the nurse said they can keep me on lupron for a while to get the timing right with the urologist's schedule.
I also started acupuncture two weeks ago. Is anyone else doing it?

    Good Luck everyone!

  11. I am doing acupuncture. I loved it last time. I go once a week and am thinking about going 2x just to relieve some stress. Does he/she do electro therapy? Are they specialized in IF? Are you taking any herbs? I am not taking any herbs just following her advice on no spicy food, room temp water, HR 130 when walking and keep feet warm. She tried to give me this diet to follow but I am not a fan of diets. I didn’t follow it last time so…
I started lupron today and we will go from there. I am never on target with my schedule so I just play it by ear!

  12. No electro therapy and she specializes in infertility. She didn't give me herbs either but said no caffeine, room temp water also, no sugar and no chocolate. I can't seem to stay away from ice cream though. But I've already lost a few pounds! I already eat whole wheat, lots of veggies and fruits so she was ok with that. She said she'll need to do a special appt the day before the embryo transfer. I'm so nervous about the embryo transfer. It's just like an IUI I'm told but IUIs were almost always painful to me. I'm hoping the acupuncture will help. And I've also got a great meditation cd that I listen to every day. It's by Belleruth Naperstak for infertility.
We decided this morning to just go with the donor sperm. So I'm starting fsh and lupron (lower dose) tonight and next ultra sound is Tuesday.
Another friend of mine is pregnant. I'm so excited for her but it is so hard at the same time. This has been the most difficult part of this whole thing. It seems like everyone is pregnant or has a child except me! But I'm trying to stay positive. I know that negative energy is not going to help.

  13. I'm new to the IVF world and am looking for someone to talk to and perhaps find a cycle buddy. I have to do my first shot of Lupron on June 27th. I've never given myself a shot before but am strangely looking forward to it. A little back ground on myself..... I'm 28 and so is my DH. We have been TTC since Feb 08. I had two chemical pregnancies, one in March 08 and another Feb 09. After the last on we sought out an RE. Through the testing we found out I had a higher FSH, 12.7. All the other tests we had done (both my husband and I) came back with flying colors. My RE suggested we do IVF. So that brings me here! We have only told a few ppl about our IVF, I am just looking for someone to share my thoughts and concerns with that knows or has gone through this before!

  14. No advice on the shots as DH does all of mine. You'd think after 3 cycles I'd be used to it but I'm not. Welcome to the group though!

  15. Looking for cycle buddies. Start stims tomorrow on this crazy journey they call IVF. This will be my seventh IVF cycle. Even after all this shots of progestrone oil always hurt.

  16. Hopefully 2010- I found some good info in the general ivf board called first timer questions. Shots are not bad- make sure you let the alcohol dry before you stick yourself, give a good amount of pressure so it goes in and don't pinch your stomach too hard. This is my first IVF but I did 2 cycles previously with FSH and HCG. Switch sides of your stomach each night so it doesn't get sore. Be ready with ice after HCG shot. If I kept ice on it for 5 minutes after the shot, I didn't get a bump or bruise from it.

steviepls- I guess we are on a similar time table since I started stimms Sat night!
I\'m so glad to find some cycle buddies through this craziness!

  18. Eliza- Thanks for the great chart!!!

There are so many of us- isn't that awesome??!!

I just started bcp yesterday. I will probably be on them about 4 or so weeks instead of just the 3 real weeks because I'm starting stims around July 25th or so. At this new clinic, they start several women all around the same time- I guess so that they won't have too many or too few retrievals or transfers at a time. We will be on vacation till July 15th so I had to delay things till then. It gives me time to get geared up and also to keep weaning off caffeine! I am down to just 1/4 caffeine in my coffee so I should be done soon! It's hard!

    Take care all, Laura

  19. Don't want to take credit for Ziggy's awesome chart Just updated it.

Am excited some of us have started! Having updates on cycles make the process go quicker.. at least I'm hoping it will!

  20. Hi, i am new to this, a friend recommended this site to help me get through this. I had my first ivf cycle in April, ended up with ovarian hyperstimulation - with no transfer. i have 13 frozen embies and will be having my first transfer hopefully at the beginning of July. I have PCOS and my partner's sperm is fairly immobile, so we had to do ICSI. We have been trying now for 3.5 years with a loss @ 4.5 wks 18 months ago. Good luck to everyone

  21. I'm sorry to hear about your OHSS. Good luck with your transfer.

AFM-i forgot how hot summers are in Texas. I was told to avoild being over exposed to the sun and to avoid it during stims. There goes lake time! I am not having any lupron side effects and am getting worried. I need to stop compairing this cycle to my last one but I had bad headaches and hot flashes then. Oh well, I just hope its working!

  22. Hi everybody,
What a big group we have! I hope you all had a nice weekend.

I'm just waiting on AF... Friday was my last BCP, but there's still no sign of her. I am kind of glad because I have an OB/GYN appt today! Hopefully she shows just after that. Tomorrow is my U/S & BW... then we can get this ball rolling.

Updated the list-- sorry in advance for any mistakes.

    Happy Monday!

  23. akm- Just wanted to let you know that I had HORRIBLE hot flashes last time I was on lupron. (Prior 2 cycles) This time, have already been on it for 14 days and have had 1 minor hot flash.. and nothing else! Am assuming all is well though!

    Eliza

  24. Hi all,

I'm doing my 2nd ivf--started Lupron 6/14, start stims 6/27. Our dx is male factor, but the age issue worries me too (I'm almost 39). The first half of my cycle went great last time, in that I had lots of eggs and even early embryos (19 mature eggs/13 fertilized), but by day 5 only 5 morulas (not quite blastocysts) were left, so getting a bfn wasn't a big surprise. My RE thinks this is likey a MF issue, so this time we're doing 1/2 donor sperm (we may go with just donor sperm if there are less than 15 eggs). It was good to have several months off between cycles (1st was in Jan.). Right now I'm just trying to stay comfortable with all the unknowns that ivf comes with.

  25. Had u/s today and I have 15 follies on my right ovary and 12 on my left! Estrogen is 228 so not super high but they are cutting my follistim in half and keeping me on lupron. And my uterine lining looks like a three layer cake which apparently is also very good. I'm so excited and can't wait for my u/s on Thursday!
