  1. Same as another board/thread

How old were you when you started your infertility treatment... as in clomid, IUI, IVF... things other than charting.

  2. I had just turned 19 when I started clomid, 19 when I started my IVF which was a positive but it turned out to be a chemical and I started AF four days before my 20th birthday. I then did my FET my next cycle when I was 20 and got pregnant with twins, one a blighted ovum, one my precious baby boy.

I\'m just curious as to how many women my age are doing infertility treatments.

  3. I went for my first appointment with an RE when I was 23. Tests showed DH had a low sperm count, but we found testing so stressful we didn't start treatment until just before my 26th birthday. Now I feel the time crunch for the first time, where before it just seemed like endless years stretching in front of me...

Iam 24. I have been doing treatment since i was about 21.5. We did 3 failed IUIs and now we are about to start our first IVF, Im just waiting for my cycle to start. I dont really know how its going to turn out, I have PCOS so it can be a challege.

  5. I was dx w/ PCOS when I was 28 and started on clomid right away. I did 6 rounds, had a miscariage in Feb 06 and just recently had an ectopic and the surgery to remove it and my left tube on 11/29/06. I will be starting IVF#1 in Feb 07.

  6. Can't answer your poll, and wow did it make me feel old. I didn't meet dh until I was 36, married at 37 and went right to IVF that same year.

  7. I did my first IUI at 24. My first IVF was at 26.

  8. Me too I feel old too. ugh. I am 39 now.....

  10. I agree with pp that the poll should include older ages. I started diagnostics when I was 27, DH was 28. I probably would have started even later, but was prompted by my OB/GYN to get a SA for DH due to his history of having testicular surgery as a child. We were diagnosed with male factor, and will have our 1st IVF with ICSI with my next AF. Good luck, everyone!

  11. Had our first IUI when I was 27, DH 26. Starting our first IVF this month and we are both still the same age (only did 4 IUIs - why keep doing the same thing when its not working!)

  12. Hi Everyone,
    Im Laura (26) Dh (27)
We started with clomid when I was 20...
and we have finally worked our way up to our 1st IVF at 26.
Hopefully it will be our only ivf!!!
Lord knows this is wayyyyyy too expensive without insurance coverage...

Have you all noticed a big difference in success rates with the lower ages???

  13. Hi, I'm new to these boards and this is my first post. I'm currently 23, and am with the man I intend to marry. We're planning to marry late next year in 2008. I will most likely be 25 when I start IVF, I'll have to have a surogate, as I have my ovaries/eggs, but no uterus. Is it better to start earlier with IVF. My guy says we don't have time to waste and will have to start looking into IVF shortly after we're married, but I'd like to wait at least 6-12 months and enjoy being together and married. I know that mid-late twenties is when a woman is most fertile, but would waiting 'till I'm 27 or 28 be horrible? Is 25, 26 a good age to start? I'm curious. Thanks!

we were married when i was 21, but enjoyed single married life without ttc for a while. we were okay not having kids or not having them for a while back then. we began ttc when i was 24, began clomid at 24.5ish and did that for 2+ years. yikes! i remember the days of calling for a refill. nope, the years of calling for a refill. we were moving on to IUI, but they found some physical problems with me that caused 2 more years of trying different things to fix that. finally, when it was cleared up, we had to go straight to IVF.

i strongly believe that you need time as a newly married couple to get to know each other. living together married is a whole new thing. i don't think it's that bad to wait a while before you begin TTC. if you know your ovaries are good and your eggs should be fine, don't feel bad for waiting. build a strong marriage foundation. i don't think success rates drop too much in your 20's.

  15. I started clomid, and IUI just after my 20th birthday. IVF i started when i was 20, just later on in the year. I'm 23 now, and am yet to have any sucess.

  16. Hi-

I am 23 yrs old and my husband is 26 yrs old. We have been trying for 2yrs to get pregnant and nothing. Just in Jan. we went in for a semen test and found it was my husband. He is only has 100 mil. sperm that are good. We decided to do the IVF/ISCI. We have our blood test done and everything is good!! Today I went for my mapping and my uterus is great!! No lumps or bumps. I am on bcp and it makes me sick to my stomach. RE said he will start me on meds when I start my period in April!!RE also said we can do the transfer (2 eggs) at the end of April. We are happy. I wanted to join the threads to get support and to give it. I can't wait to talk to everyone soon!!

  17. I tried Clomid when I was 26, then we found out our issue was mainly MF, so we went straight to IVF/ICSI and got pg w/ twins, who I gave birth to when I was 27. We'll probably try for another when I'm 31 or 32. Good luck to you all - we're all lucky we started trying early, it really helps your chances of success.

  18. I was 26 when I was hospitalized for sev. abd pain. My gyn did did an exploratory lap. to check for endometriosis. Turned out I had a ruptured ovarian cyst, but he checked everything out while he was in there and all was good with me. My dh & I had not been using protection for about 1 year and a half, so to make sure everything was ok, we had him checked out We thought everything would be fine and we could relax... Turned out his results did not come back ok - he had high abnormality, low count, low motility, etc, etc. We tried IVF w/ICSI in 12/2004, unsuccesful, attempt #2 1/2005 was successful - DD was born 10/2005. We wanted more children fairly soon and knew we couldn't afford it, so I did a few egg donations to save up for another attempt. We did a FET in 4/06, unsuccessful, and are currently waiting for results of our #3 and final attempt at a fresh ET. We find out on Thursday, 4/5. I've had hyperstim twice, once ending up in the hospital w/pain... But I wouldn't change a thing. We've been blessed with our Coo-Coo Bunny (our daughter, lol) and while We'd love nothing more to expand our family.. we are still a family regardless. Good luck to all and feel free to e-mail me w/ any question or if you need someone to just listen and understand.

  19. Started treatments 4 months before my 27th bday. First IVF cycle resulted in a BFN. I start taking BCP for our FET this Sunday.

  20. Hi. I went in for a laparoscopy in 02' when I was 21 due to severe abdominal pain...we were checking for endometriosis. I didn't have that, but found out my tubes were closed at the ends (no way for sperm to reach my egg for fertilization). Soon after, I went to my RE to see what my future looked like. I wasn't married yet, so I coped and knew I would do IVF a while after being married.

My dh and I married in 05' when I was 24, he was 27. We have enjoyed our marriage together for almost 2 years now June 18. This past Feb. we decided we wanted to try IVF this summer, being that we knew this was the path we had to and wanted to take. So, I went to see my RE again in March. I had to have my tubes clamped & burned at the ends toward my uterus to keep any fluids from decreasing my chances w/IVF. We continued talking at appt.'s and soon after, set up our IVF schedule.

I am 26, and my dh is 29 now. We started our cycle May 25 w/Lupron, went on to Stims (Follistim/Menopur) June 8. Now, I am waiting for Thursday to go to my RE to see how the stims are working and how many follies we have . ER @ 6/20 and ET @ 6/23 or 6/25. This is our 1st IVF. My husband and I have been together for 11 years (9-dating and 2-married). Wow! God is good !!

  21. I am 24. I have been diagnosed with Premature Ovarian Failure (at the age of 19) I have been married 2 years now and the dh and I are looking into options. I would like to try IVF-donor egg sometime late in 2007 or early 2008. Any advice?

  22. I'm twenty three years old. I started fertility pills at the age of 21. I've been married for right around two years and we've been together for 5. We have currently moved on from the drugs and our getting ready to start our first IVF cycle.

  23. I am 23, and started Clomid when I was 22. I am not in the 2WW of my first IVF!!!

  24. I'm going to be 29 in september, we have been trying to get pregnant for 2 1/2 years descovered after coming of the pill that i have PCOS and after fertility tests that my dh has poor sperm motility. we have started our first and hopefully only icsi , on day 6 of syranel and trying to be positive!

  25. Im 23 and dh is 28. We have been together for 7yrs married for 3.5yrs and ttc for 3yrs.

We\'ve tried lots of stuff so far, clomid, injectables, IUI's, GIFT, and IVF so far those were all duds, but somehow we managed to get preg on our own last Nov (during a break from TTC) but miscarried in January.

Started out w/Male Factor 3million total sperm 2yrs ago, but that number has jumped now to 352 million...so not sure why we arent getting preg. Maybe stress..who knows. So far there doesnt seem to be any factors w/me fertility wise.
